Systeme.io free plan: what you get and when you must upgrade
Amber buttons and amber links are affiliate links: if you sign up through one, that vendor pays us a commission at no extra cost to you. Plain buttons and links are not. How we earn.
As of 26 September 2026, Systeme.io's Free plan costs $0, needs no credit card and never expires. It includes 2,000 contacts, 3 sales funnels, 1 automation rule, 1 custom domain, 1 course with up to 500 students and unlimited email sends, and Systeme.io takes 0% of each sale. The limit that can halt sales sits in the terms, not on the pricing page: after $10,000 in lifetime sales, you get 3 days to upgrade before payment pages stop accepting new sales. A course creator or coach should build on Free, then move to Startup at $17 a month before any launch that could cross that line.
Systeme.io’s Free plan is a plan, not a trial, so what matters is which of its limits you reach first. This guide lists the ones that matter, including a sales cap that sits in the terms rather than on the pricing page, and names the paid plan that lifts each. Figures are as we checked them on .
What does the Systeme.io free plan include?
The Free plan costs nothing, needs no credit card and, according to Systeme.io’s pricing FAQ, never expires. The plan card itself calls it “perfect for testing the platform”. The comparison table on the pricing page, which agrees with the plans data behind it, sets these limits:
- Contacts and email: 2,000 contacts, unlimited emails sent and unlimited newsletters, but 1 email campaign and 1 tag.
- Automation: 1 automation rule and 1 workflow.
- Selling: 3 sales funnels with 15 funnel steps, 1 one-click upsell, 1 order bump, 1 A/B test and 50 physical product variants, with a 0% Systeme.io transaction fee.
- Courses and community: 1 course for up to 500 students, and 1 community with unlimited members.
- Website: 1 website in up to 2 languages, 1 blog with unlimited posts, 1 custom domain and 1 link-in-bio page.
- Running the business: 1 CRM pipeline, 1 booking calendar event with unlimited bookings, unlimited file storage, and unlimited assistant (staff) accounts and sub-accounts.
- Not included: evergreen webinars.
Two other parts of the pricing page make Free sound roomier. Its “All plans include” box promises unlimited students, but the table and the plans data stop Free at 500. Its FAQ calls funnels and courses “the only meaningful limits” on Free, which passes over the single tag and automation rule and leaves out the sales cap. The terms have a gap of their own: their automatic-upgrade rule covers paid plans only, and they do not say what happens when a Free account passes 2,000 contacts. Treat 2,000 as a ceiling, not a soft target.
How does Systeme.io’s $10,000 free-plan sales cap work?
Article 5a of Systeme.io’s terms limits Free accounts to USD 10,000 in lifetime sales revenue: a running total of every sale the account has taken, which does not reset monthly or yearly. Affiliate commissions do not count. Sales in other currencies are converted to US dollars, and the terms warn that exchange-rate changes can affect when an account reaches the limit, so leave headroom if you price in another currency.
The terms set out the sequence:
- A notice appears on your dashboard as you approach the limit.
- When you reach it, Systeme.io emails you and gives you 3 days to upgrade to a paid plan.
- If you have not upgraded by then, your payment pages stop accepting new sales.
- Selling resumes only when you subscribe to a paid plan. The account is never upgraded or charged automatically.
Paid plans work the other way around: going over a limit brings an email and 3 days to cut usage, then an automatic upgrade and a bill. On Free, nothing is billed and you lose sales instead. The plans data sets a revenue limit on Free and on no paid plan, so any upgrade lifts the cap.
The cap arrives sooner than it sounds. CinchStack’s solo-seller scenario assumes $3,000 a month in sales, a pace that passes $10,000 during the fourth month, which is why the solo bill on our Systeme.io pricing page uses Startup rather than Free. A launch that sells well can cross the line in days, and 3 days is a short window in the middle of a promotion. Upgrade before a launch that could reach the cap, not after the email arrives.
Recurring offers carry one more risk. The terms speak only of new sales and do not say whether payments on subscriptions or installment plans that customers started earlier continue after the cutoff. If you sell memberships or payment plans on Free, get an answer from Systeme.io support before your total gets close.
Can you remove the Systeme.io badge without paying?
No. Systeme.io’s help center is direct: “Users on the Free plan cannot remove the affiliate badge.” The badge appears on your sales funnel pages, and the help article makes no exception for pages on a custom domain.
On Startup, Webinar or Unlimited, you switch it off page by page: open the funnel page in the editor, go to Settings and uncheck the box labeled “Display an affiliate badge to earn lifetime commissions”. As that label suggests, the badge is part of Systeme.io’s affiliate program rather than a plain credit line.
For a test offer or a first lead magnet, the badge is a fair trade for a free account. For a coach or consultant whose pages carry the brand, removing it is reason enough to pay for Startup, at $17 a month or $14.17 a month billed yearly.
What do you still pay for on Systeme.io’s free plan?
Systeme.io bills a Free account nothing, but other companies charge you once you sell or send texts.
- Card processing. Systeme.io takes 0% of each sale on every plan, Free included, and its pricing page says you can accept payments through Stripe or PayPal “at no extra cost”. The processor still takes its fee from your own account. Stripe’s standard US rate is 2.9% + 30¢ per successful domestic card charge, plus 1.5% for international cards, 0.5% for manually entered cards and 1% when currency conversion is needed. PayPal charges its own rates.
- Text messages. SMS goes out through a Twilio account you connect yourself. The help center says “SMS costs and delivery are managed directly through Twilio”, and Systeme.io publishes no SMS rate of its own. Texts are sent by automation rules and workflows, so on Free they share the single rule and workflow with everything else you automate.
Staff logins cost nothing: assistant accounts are unlimited on every plan, including Free. Assistants and admins cannot reach owner-only areas such as the plan, payment gateways and custom domains, so those jobs stay with the owner.
Which free-plan limit will you hit first, and which plan lifts it?
Pick the plan that lifts the first limit you hit, not the plan with the biggest numbers.
Startup costs $17 a month, or $14.17 a month billed yearly. It raises every Free limit except evergreen webinars and has no revenue cap. Move here when the sales cap is in sight, when you need a second tag, automation rule, course or custom domain, when your one course nears 500 students, or when you want the badge gone. It allows 5,000 contacts, 10 funnels, 10 automation rules, 10 tags, 3 custom domains and 5 courses with unlimited students. The funnel limit is 10, whatever the pricing FAQ’s “unlimited funnels” says.
Webinar costs $47 a month, or $39.17 a month billed yearly. Skip Startup and come straight here if evergreen webinars are how you sell, if your list is already close to 5,000, or if 10 automation rules and 10 tags look tight. Webinar allows 10 evergreen webinars, 10,000 contacts, 50 funnels and 100 each of automation rules and tags.
Unlimited costs $97 a month, or $80.83 a month billed yearly. You need it once contacts pass 10,000. It is also the only plan that includes the free done-for-you migration on monthly billing, which helps if you are moving an existing business across. The pricing page calls its contacts unlimited, but the plans data caps them at 1,000,000.
Physical products are unlimited on every plan, but their variants are not. Free allows 50 product variants, Startup 100 and Webinar 250, and the plans data stops even Unlimited at 5,000. If your products come in many sizes and colors, count your variants before you choose a plan; a store that needs more than 5,000 should look at a platform built around a product catalog.
What changes once you pay for a Systeme.io plan?
Four billing rules apply once you leave Free.
- No trial comes first. Systeme.io advertises no trial of its paid plans; you upgrade straight from Settings, under My plan.
- Yearly billing costs 10 times the monthly price, which Systeme.io presents as “2 months free”, and it brings the free migration on any plan.
- Subscriptions are non-refundable under the terms, and moving down a plan goes through support rather than a button, so prove your setup on Free and start monthly unless you are sure.
- Overages turn into upgrades. Go over a paid plan’s limits and Systeme.io emails you; if you have not cut usage within 3 days, it moves you up and bills the higher plan for the rest of the period. Buy with some headroom.
For a course creator or coach with one offer, the order is simple: build and test on Free, move to Startup before the first launch that could pass $10,000 in lifetime sales, and take Webinar only when evergreen webinars or a list near 5,000 contacts call for it.

- The "For teams" plan has no published price. It is quoted only on a sales call.
- Monthly-plan checkout pages are not public (systeme.io/startup and /unlimited return 404, and /webinar is an inactive page). The monthly prices come from the pricing page and the plans API it loads. Monthly upgrades happen inside the app.
- The Perks rows in the comparison table (free migration, early access) and other check-mark features are drawn as icons and did not come through as text. Free-migration eligibility comes from the free-migration page instead.
- The pricing FAQ tells agencies wanting white label or resale to contact systeme.io for white-label pricing, while the help centre describes a self-serve white-label feature. We captured no separate white-label fee.
- SMS cost depends on the customer's own Twilio account and was not captured.
- Third-party reviews say Startup cost $27/month before a cut to $17 in May 2025. We did not capture a vendor source for the old price, so it is not recorded in history.

Frequently asked questions
Does the $10,000 limit on Systeme.io's free plan ever reset?
No. Systeme.io's terms cap a Free account at $10,000 in lifetime sales revenue, which makes it a running total of everything the account has sold rather than a monthly or yearly allowance. Two details affect how fast you get there. Affiliate commissions do not count toward the total. Sales in other currencies are converted to US dollars, and the terms warn that exchange-rate movements can change when the limit is reached, so a seller who prices in euros or another currency should not plan to the last dollar. As the total nears the cap, a notice appears on the dashboard; at the cap, Systeme.io emails you and allows 3 days to upgrade before payment pages stop accepting new sales. Upgrading is the only way to keep selling, and it is never done for you. Startup, the cheapest paid plan at $17 a month, carries no revenue limit.
Is there a free trial of Systeme.io's paid plans?
Systeme.io does not advertise a trial of Startup, Webinar or Unlimited. On its pricing page, the "Start for free" button under each paid plan opens the same "Create your free account" signup as the Free plan, so signing up there starts you on Free, and you upgrade from inside the app, under Settings and then My plan. Free works as an open-ended test of the core tools because it never expires and needs no card, but it cannot show you the paid-only parts: evergreen webinars, more than 1 automation rule or tag, or pages without the affiliate badge. Test as much as you can before paying, because Systeme.io's terms say subscriptions are not refundable. The smallest commitment is Startup billed monthly at $17. Billing yearly lowers that to $14.17 a month, but you pay for the whole year at once, with no refund if your plans change.
Can I sell an online course on Systeme.io's free plan?
Yes. Systeme.io's Free plan includes 1 course for up to 500 students, 3 sales funnels, 1 one-click upsell and 1 order bump, and you take payment through your own Stripe or PayPal account with a 0% Systeme.io transaction fee. The pricing page's "All plans include" box says students are unlimited, but its comparison table and plans data cap Free at 500, so plan around 500. Three limits decide how far a course business gets on Free. The first is the $10,000 lifetime sales cap in the terms, after which payment pages stop taking new sales once a 3-day upgrade window passes. The second is the single course: a second course, or a 501st student, needs Startup at $17 a month, which allows 5 courses with unlimited students. The third is evergreen webinars, which are missing from Free and Startup and start on Webinar at $47 a month.
How many emails can I send on Systeme.io's free plan?
As many as you like, subject to the fair use policy in Systeme.io's terms. Systeme.io's comparison table lists emails sent and email newsletters as unlimited on every plan, Free included, with no per-email charge. The limits on Free sit around the sending rather than on it: 2,000 contacts, 1 email campaign, 1 tag, 1 automation rule and 1 workflow. With 1 campaign and 1 tag, sending different follow-ups to buyers and subscribers, or to people who came in through two different lead magnets, outgrows the plan long before sending does. Startup, at $17 a month or $14.17 a month billed yearly, raises those counts to 5,000 contacts, 10 email campaigns, 10 tags, 10 automation rules and 5 workflows, with sending still unlimited. Webinar, at $47 a month, goes to 10,000 contacts and 100 campaigns, tags and automation rules.
Can I use my own domain on Systeme.io's free plan?
Yes, one. Systeme.io's Free plan includes 1 custom domain, alongside 1 website in up to 2 languages, 1 blog with unlimited posts and 3 sales funnels. Domains are managed in the Custom Domains section of the settings, which is also where the help center says you can rename your systeme.io subdomain. Only the account owner can add, configure or remove custom domains; assistants and admins invited to the account cannot open that section. A custom domain does not remove the systeme.io affiliate badge, because the help center says Free users cannot turn it off at all. A second or third domain in the same account needs Startup at $17 a month, which allows 3; Webinar, at $47 a month, allows 10, and Unlimited lists custom domains as unlimited. A separate brand can instead go in a sub-account, which the help center says gets the same limits as the main account.
Can I go back to Systeme.io's free plan after upgrading?
Yes, by canceling the paid subscription: in Settings, open Manage my subscriptions, click the three dots beside the plan and choose Cancel subscription. Systeme.io's help center says the cancellation takes effect just before the next renewal date, and the terms make subscriptions non-refundable, so you keep the paid plan until the time you paid for runs out. According to the pricing page's FAQ, the account then returns to Free, and contacts above the 2,000 limit are archived rather than deleted until you take a paid plan again. Free's other limits, such as 3 funnels and 1 automation rule, apply again too. Check your sales history first: the terms measure the $10,000 cap in lifetime sales revenue and make no exception for sales taken on a paid plan, so an account already past it may not be able to keep selling on Free.
Do sub-accounts give a free Systeme.io account more room?
Partly. Systeme.io allows unlimited sub-accounts on every plan, Free included, and its help center says each one gets the same resource limits as the main account. On Free, that means each sub-account has its own 2,000 contacts, 3 funnels, 1 course and 1 automation rule. Each is a separate workspace with its own statistics and its own payment gateway, built for a second brand, project or client, so one list or one funnel cannot borrow room from another sub-account. Neither the help article nor the terms say how the $10,000 lifetime sales cap is counted across sub-accounts, so do not plan a business around splitting sales between them. The same article warns that offering sub-accounts publicly as lifetime deals, or below Systeme.io's official prices, breaks its terms and can lead to immediate suspension.
