As of 26 September 2026, GoHighLevel's AI Employee plans cost $50 (Growth) or $97 (Unlimited) a month per sub-account, on top of the platform plan. A sub-account without one pays per use from the prepaid wallet: Conversation AI on GPT-5 costs $1.25 per million input tokens and $10.00 per million output tokens, the Voice AI engine costs $0.045 a minute before text-to-speech, token and phone charges, and each AI-assisted review reply costs $0.01. Phone charges apply to every AI phone call on any plan. A single local business should start on pay-per-use; an agency should reserve Unlimited for client sub-accounts whose AI use, usually a busy voice agent, would cost more than $97 a month on pay-per-use.
How does GoHighLevel bill for AI: a plan or pay-per-use?
When we read it on , HighLevel’s AI Product Pricing article, updated the day before, put every sub-account on one of three AI billing modes. A sub-account is HighLevel’s name for a client or location workspace. Two of the modes are monthly subscriptions sold per sub-account: AI Employee Growth at $50 and AI Employee Unlimited at $97. The third, pay-per-use, has no monthly fee and applies automatically to any sub-account on neither plan. It charges each AI action by the token, the minute or the item, and the money comes out of the same prepaid wallet that pays for texts, calls and email.
All of these charges sit on top of the platform subscription, which starts at $97 a month for Starter. The choice is made sub-account by sub-account, so an agency can put its busiest client on Unlimited, another on Growth and leave quiet accounts on pay-per-use.
Mind the names: “AI Employee Unlimited” is the $97 AI add-on, while plain “Unlimited” is the $297 platform plan, and buying one does not include the other. Some AI costs nothing extra in any mode, subject to fair use, including Funnel AI (up to 1,000 prompts a day per sub-account), Email AI and the knowledge base itself, though its content counts toward Conversation AI’s input tokens.
What do AI Employee Growth and AI Employee Unlimited include?
AI Employee Growth costs $50 per sub-account a month. HighLevel’s article lists these monthly allowances:
- 1,000 Conversation AI agent responses
- 100 Voice AI minutes, shared across inbound calls, outbound calls and the Voice AI widget
- Reviews AI and Content AI with no monthly cap, under fair use
- 100 messages a day plus 500 more a month on the Conversation AI prompt optimizer, and 100 minutes on the Voice AI one
- Ask AI and AI Studio usage, metered in 5-hour windows, and 100 Managed Agents runs
Past an allowance, the sub-account’s AI usage limit setting decides what happens: “Keep AI running, just notify” bills the extra at pay-per-use rates, while “Block AI at the limit” stops the AI.
AI Employee Unlimited costs $97 per sub-account a month. It lifts the monthly caps on Conversation AI, Voice AI, Reviews AI, Content AI and both prompt optimizers, gives 3 times Growth’s Ask AI and AI Studio allowance per 5-hour window, and allows 1,000 Managed Agents runs a month. The plan is subject to fair use: HighLevel says it may throttle, limit, require an upgrade or end access, with or without notice, if usage is excessive, abusive or hurts platform performance. Its pricing page adds that “unlimited” describes “platform functionality and access only.”
Neither plan covers Agent Studio, which stays pay-per-use everywhere, or the Phone System charges for calls and texts.
What do Conversation AI, Reviews AI and Content AI cost on pay-per-use?
Conversation AI, the agent that replies to customers’ messages, is billed in tokens, the units AI models use to measure text. Input tokens are everything sent to the model: the customer’s message, the conversation history, the agent’s instructions, contact details and knowledge-base content. Output tokens are the words the agent writes back. On GPT-5, input costs $1.25 per million tokens and output $10.00 per million; GPT-5 Mini costs a fifth of both rates.
Because the token count changes with every exchange, nobody can quote the price of a conversation in advance. HighLevel’s own worked example, a conversation with 100,000 input tokens and 25,000 output tokens at GPT-5’s rates, comes to $0.375, and in it the output costs twice as much as the input despite being a quarter of the volume. More back-and-forth, longer replies and a bigger knowledge base all raise the count.
Reviews AI costs $0.01 for each AI-assisted reply sent. Generating up to 4 suggestions per review is not charged, and a suggestion you substantially rewrite before sending counts as a manual reply. Content AI costs $0.063 per image, with text billed separately per 1,000 words.
How much does GoHighLevel Voice AI cost per minute?
On pay-per-use, HighLevel’s AI article splits a standard Voice AI call into three charges, plus the phone line:
- The Voice Engine, at $0.045 a minute, the rate in force since 20 May 2026.
- The text-to-speech voice: $0.015 a minute for OpenAI or Cartesia, while ElevenLabs’ V3 voice costs more than 10 times as much.
- LLM tokens for the model that writes the agent’s words, at a price per million tokens that varies widely across the OpenAI, Google and Anthropic models listed.
- Phone System charges for the call itself.
That puts the floor at $0.06 a minute before tokens and phone charges, the same arithmetic behind HighLevel’s own 10-minute example.
Speech-to-speech models work differently: one realtime model hears the caller and answers in audio, at a single rate that bundles audio, text, cache tokens, transcripts and infrastructure. That rate is $0.10 a minute for Google’s Gemini live model, or twice that for OpenAI’s gpt-realtime, and phone charges still apply. The article does not say whether Growth’s 100 minutes or the Unlimited plan cover speech-to-speech, so confirm that in the app before relying on it.
The phone charge applies on every plan. HighLevel’s glossary says Phone System charges “still apply even when Voice AI Inbound is covered by AI Employee Unlimited.” Its Phone System guide lists US and Canada calls at $0.0166 a minute outbound and $0.01165 a minute for inbound calls answered in the web or mobile app or on a desk phone, billed in whole minutes with any partial minute rounded up, plus $1.15 a month per local number. The AI article does not say which of those line items an AI-handled call uses.
What else adds to a GoHighLevel AI bill?
- Texts. HighLevel’s AI article says text and call charges are billed separately on every plan, so an agent that replies by SMS also runs up ordinary texting charges: $0.00747 per segment in the US plus a carrier fee, with incoming texts charged at the same rate.
- Agent Studio. It bills by model tokens, API usage, searches or content-generation units on every plan, AI Employee Unlimited included.
- Workflow AI actions. The article’s summary table lists Workflow AI as free, yet its Workflow AI section prices 4 premium actions (Decision Maker, Intent Detection, Summarize Text and Translate) at $0.01 per execution, and GPT actions inside workflows bill at the model’s own rates.
- The wallet. HighLevel’s wallet article says auto recharge cannot be switched off, and Smart Adjustment raises the top-up amount after more than 3 recharges in 7 days unless you disable it. A wallet usage notification per sub-account emails you when a client’s spend passes a threshold you set.
- Rebilling. Starter cannot rebill any usage to clients, and HighLevel’s rebilling article says at-cost rebilling starts on the $297 Unlimited plan, but its AI article says rebilling AI Employee usage needs the $497 Agency Pro plan. Without rebilling, the agency’s wallet carries the cost.
- Taxes. Sales tax or VAT is added on top where it applies, and tax on wallet spending is taken from the wallet after each month.
- Rate changes. HighLevel warns that AI prices and model availability can change. Before quoting a client, check the in-app Wallet Pricing page, a Labs feature you switch on under Settings.
When does an AI Employee plan cost less than pay-per-use?
Growth is cheaper than pay-per-use when the usage it includes would cost a sub-account more than $50 on pay-per-use. Unlimited beats pay-per-use once the sub-account’s covered AI usage would cost more than $97 there, and beats Growth once Growth’s $50 plus its overage passes $97. Phone and text charges don’t change the comparison, because they apply either way. Product by product, the thresholds look like this:
- Chat: Growth’s $50 spread across its 1,000 responses works out to $0.05 a reply. Unless the average reply costs more than that in tokens, which on GPT-5 takes tens of thousands of input tokens and on GPT-5 Mini 5 times as many, chat alone does not justify Growth.
- Review replies: at $0.01 each, a sub-account would need 5,000 AI-assisted replies in a month to match Growth’s fee.
- Images: at $0.063 each, it takes nearly 800 Content AI images a month to reach $50.
- Voice: Growth’s 100 included minutes would cost $6 on pay-per-use at the $0.06 floor before tokens, and past 100 minutes Growth charges the same rates as pay-per-use, so Growth does little for a sub-account that mainly wants a voice agent. Unlimited’s $97 equals about 1,600 minutes at that floor, every cent of tokens per minute pulls the crossover lower, and ElevenLabs’ V3 voice drops it to about 450 minutes. On the standard voice pipeline, a voice agent that talks for more than about 1,600 minutes a month is cheaper on Unlimited whatever the model or voice.
The sound method is to measure before you commit. Leave a new sub-account on pay-per-use for a full month, then open the AI Suite, HighLevel’s agency-level report, which breaks AI spend, token use and pay-per-use charges down by sub-account. Price that month’s covered AI usage three ways: as billed on pay-per-use, as $50 plus whatever fell outside Growth’s allowances, and as a flat $97. Move the sub-account to the cheapest. A single local business should begin on pay-per-use and let those numbers decide; an agency should treat the plans as tools for its heaviest clients, not as a default for every sub-account.

- Whether the 14-day trial requires a card up front: the signup form asks for business details first and its 'Trial Details' step was not reached. The pricing page says billing starts automatically when the trial ends unless canceled.
- The 5% pass-through markup on A2P and carrier fees: the markup article (9 Sep 2026) says it applies whether or not rebilling is enabled and the Phone System guide (24 Sep 2026) says it 'always applies', but the same guide also says 'only when re-billing is enabled' and the A2P fee article says HighLevel adds no markup. The scenarios include it; without it they fall by $0.12 (solo), $0.30 (small) and $1.20 (growing).
- The Phone System guide lists A2P monthly fees with the 5% built in (Sole Proprietor 'up to $2.10', Low Volume '$1.50-$10.50', High Volume '$10.50'), while the A2P article lists $2.00 / $1.50 / $10.00. The scenarios use the A2P article's $1.50.
- Carrier fees depend on each recipient's carrier; the scenarios assume $0.0045 per outbound segment for every text.
- Pay-per-use Conversation AI and Voice AI cost per conversation depends on token counts and cannot be priced in advance; only the per-token and per-minute rates are recorded.
- The per-message price for US WhatsApp service messages beyond the free 1,000 a month (in force since 1 October 2026) appears only in an attached CSV ($0.0034 before the 5% fee), not in the guide's table.
- HighLevel's pricing pages list no platform fee on payments taken through Stripe, PayPal, Square and other connected processors, but processor fees were not captured.
- Domain purchase prices vary by TLD and were not captured.
- Whether a dedicated email sending domain costs anything: the setup article lists no fee, but does not say it is free.
- The $27/month Pause Plan is mentioned in HighLevel's billing FAQ, which also says agency accounts cannot be paused.
- Enterprise pricing is quote-only.
- HighLevel's in-app Wallet Pricing page (the source it calls authoritative for usage rates) requires a login and was not captured.
- The dedicated email IP's unit: the pricing page and the dedicated IP article say $59 a month per IP, while HighLevel's Pricing Guide says "$59/mo per dedicated domain". The record follows the two that agree.
- The Workflow Pro unit: HighLevel's Pricing Guide calls the $10 tier a price "for the agency" in one line but lists it per enabled sub-account in its table, and the Workflow Pro article counts allowances per sub-account. The record treats it as per sub-account.

Frequently asked questions
Is GoHighLevel's AI Employee Unlimited plan really unlimited?
Not entirely. AI Employee Unlimited, at $97 per sub-account a month, removes the monthly caps on Conversation AI, Voice AI, Reviews AI and Content AI, but HighLevel's AI Product Pricing article attaches a fair-use policy to it: if usage is excessive, abusive or degrades platform performance, HighLevel says it may throttle or limit the service, require an upgrade, or end access, with or without notice.
Several things also sit outside the plan. Agent Studio stays pay-per-use on every plan, Ask AI and AI Studio come with 3 times the Growth plan's allowance per 5-hour window rather than no limit, and Managed Agents get 1,000 runs a month. Phone System charges still apply to every call a voice agent makes or takes, and texts are billed separately. Treat Unlimited as a flat fee for the AI itself, not for the communications around it.
What happens when a GoHighLevel sub-account goes over its AI Employee Growth allowance?
It depends on one setting. GoHighLevel's AI Employee Growth plan costs $50 per sub-account a month and includes 1,000 Conversation AI responses and 100 Voice AI minutes, and HighLevel's AI Product Pricing article says the sub-account's AI usage limit setting decides what happens after that. With “Keep AI running, just notify” selected, or with spending limits disabled, the AI keeps working and the extra usage is billed at pay-per-use rates, such as $1.25 per million GPT-5 input tokens for chat and $0.045 a minute for the Voice Engine before text-to-speech, token and phone charges. With “Block AI at the limit” selected, the AI stops when the limit is reached.
Blocking protects the wallet, but the AI stops answering; keeping it running keeps the AI answering at a cost that rises with use. Check which setting each client's sub-account uses before a busy month.
Do GoHighLevel Voice AI calls also use phone minutes?
Yes. HighLevel's AI Product Pricing article says Phone System charges still apply to all phone calls regardless of plan, and its glossary says they apply even when inbound Voice AI is covered by AI Employee Unlimited. Each GoHighLevel voice agent call therefore carries two charges: the AI part, which is covered by Unlimited, by the first 100 minutes on Growth, or billed per minute plus tokens on pay-per-use, and the phone part, which comes out of the wallet on every plan.
HighLevel's Phone System guide lists US and Canada calls at $0.0166 a minute outbound and $0.01165 a minute for inbound calls answered in the web or mobile app or on a desk phone, billed in whole minutes with any partial minute rounded up, and each local number costs $1.15 a month. The AI article does not break down which phone line items an AI-handled call triggers, so read the wallet's transaction detail after the agent's first week.
How much does a GoHighLevel Conversation AI conversation cost?
On pay-per-use there is no fixed price, because GoHighLevel bills Conversation AI by tokens and the token count differs from one conversation to the next. GPT-5 costs $1.25 per million input tokens, which cover the customer's messages, the conversation history, the agent's instructions, contact details and knowledge-base content, and $10.00 per million output tokens for the replies it writes.
HighLevel's own worked example, a conversation using 100,000 input tokens and 25,000 output tokens at GPT-5's rates, costs $0.375. More back-and-forth, longer replies and a bigger knowledge base push the figure up, and switching to GPT-5 Mini, priced at a fifth of GPT-5's rates, pulls it down. A sub-account on AI Employee Growth gets its first 1,000 agent responses each month within the plan instead, and AI Employee Unlimited has no monthly cap, subject to fair use.
Does GoHighLevel charge for every AI review reply?
Only for AI-assisted replies that are actually sent. Without an AI Employee plan, GoHighLevel's Reviews AI costs $0.01 per sent reply that uses an AI suggestion, and HighLevel's AI Product Pricing article lists what is not charged: generating up to 4 reply suggestions for a review, sending a suggestion you have substantially rewritten, which counts as a manual reply, and retrying or resending the same reply. Auto-Pilot and Drip Mode are billed once for each AI reply they send.
Both AI Employee plans include Reviews AI without a monthly cap, under fair use. At a cent a reply, a business would have to send 5,000 AI-assisted replies in a month before pay-per-use cost as much as the $50 Growth plan, so review replies on their own are rarely a reason to buy a plan.
Can an agency pass GoHighLevel AI costs on to its clients?
It depends on the platform plan. GoHighLevel's Starter plan, at $97 a month, cannot rebill any usage to sub-accounts, so the agency's wallet pays every AI charge and the agency can only recover it through its own client fees. HighLevel's rebilling article says at-cost rebilling unlocks on the $297 Unlimited and $497 Agency Pro plans and names AI among the usage it covers, but the AI Product Pricing article adds that rebilling AI Employee usage requires the $497 plan, and only Agency Pro can add a markup. Either way, HighLevel charges the agency's wallet first; rebilling then charges the client.
To see what each client used, agency admins can open the AI Suite, which breaks AI spend, token use and pay-per-use charges down by sub-account. HighLevel also tells agencies to confirm current in-app pricing and billing settings before quoting AI prices to a client, since model and provider rates can change.
Is the AI Employee included in any GoHighLevel plan?
No. None of GoHighLevel's three published plans includes it: AI Employee is an optional add-on priced per sub-account, Growth at $50 a month and Unlimited at $97 a month, on top of Starter, Unlimited or Agency Pro. The names overlap, so read them carefully. The $297 Unlimited platform plan gives an agency unlimited sub-accounts but does not put any of them on AI Employee Unlimited, and HighLevel's billing FAQ notes that AI Employee shares its $97 price with an agency plan, so agencies should check invoices and wallet transactions to identify each charge.
A sub-account without either AI plan is not cut off from AI; it pays per use instead. Some AI tools carry no extra charge in any case: HighLevel's AI Product Pricing article lists Funnel AI, Email AI, the knowledge base and Workflow AI's builder as included, subject to fair use.
